In the article the idea, problems, perspectives of development as well as competitive factors of sea transport junction in the context of specific of its activity and relationships with service purchases are investigated. As a result of investigations, author comes to the conclusion that the cost of ship’s servicing and cargo handling operations, time of ship’s standing in the port, value of service are the main criterions of sea transport junction’s competitiveness. Since sea transport junction competitiveness is determined by relationships of its elements, author believes, that the junction’s competitive strategy must be formed on the relationship marketing conception.

This article explores how behavioral merger remedies of Federal Antimonopoly Service of Russia affects the price level. The main assumption implies that issuance of price remedies by antimonopoly authority may cause downward price rigidity as a result of ratchet effect or tacit collusion. The article includes analysis of 11 mergers with behavioral remedies during the period 2006–2010 and price dynamics for 14 products. In the course of the research the hypothesis that the issuance of price remedies caused downward price rigidity was not confirmed.

International competition

What factors play a crucial role in the decision making of Russian firms about foreign market entry? The search for an answer to this question becomes even more important if we account for SMEs whose capabilities are substantially limited compared to large companies. We used the unique data set of Russian SMEs in our study. Based on the logistic regression analysis, the results indicated that while competitive hostility and resource availability positively influenced SMEs internationalization, institutional heterogeneity had a negative impact on its likelihood. In the analysis we used a holistic «three pillars» framework (institutional, industrial, and firm-level factors). It helps to explore the differences between internationalized and non-internationalized Russian firms and to understand the relative contribution of each factor in forming internationalization propensity of SMEs in the transition environment.
