Institutional and economic description of the competitive market environment

The evolution of theoretical points of view on the problem of competition definition starting of classical approach as the way of pricing regulation and reaching market equilibrium till the present approach as ordered institutional reference system is shown in the issue. Particular attention is paid to the concept of dynamic competition and competitive rationality. The study presents the author’s vision of the economic category competitive environment, competitive interactions as a set of market agents to obtain competitive advantages, coordinated within the established institutional constraints. Proposed framework for addressing a category, described the subjects of the object. Found a place to the category business environment in the structure of the competitive environment.

The government regulation of competitive environment of Russia at the present stage

The issue analyzes and shows the necessity of government intervention in construction and operation of the competitive environment. The market failures and governmental failures which are to be in consider while different measures of government policy are executing. The evolution of Russian competition policy from antitrust regulation till the early start of competition policy and competitive environment policy is shown. The ways of reconstruction of government departments which are managing competition and competitive environment are proposed.

State regulation of the spirit’s market in Russian Federation: on the way to state monopoly?

Market of alcohol products is of special interest to the scientific and economic analysis, as it has the specificity of being one of the most important sources of replenishment of the budget. The alcohol market has its own peculiarities, which gives rise to the need for active public regulation of the processes of production, consumption, supply and demand of these products. The market is not able to limit the demand and consumption of alcoholic beverages. From the positions of the same social justice is very important limitation of demand and excessive consumption of such harmful goods as alcohol. For a number of reasons the need of proactive state intervention in the process of creating the pre-provisions on alcohol products, pricing and regulation of processes of distribution and redistribution of income from its production and implementation. The aim of the research is to study the mechanisms of state regulation of the alcohol market in the countries of the Eurasian region.

The causes and the role of unfair competition at modern industry markets

Development and protection of competition is one of the main directions for the implementation of the economic policy of the state and require a systematic and theoretical understanding of the emerging trends. Therefore, without government interference, competition can also cause negative trends, such as conducting unscrupulous methods of struggle, abuse of dominant position, which adversely affects the parameters of the functioning of the market. This article deals with unfair competition as a result of the intensification of competition in the markets. The authors analyzed the approaches to the interpretation of the concept of «unfair competition», the reasons for its emergence and further development. Competition always serves as a prerequisite for the emergence and development of unfair competition. Thus, the complete elimination of unfair competition is not possible, and as a result, state policy aimed at combating unfair competition can only minimize its level. Unfair competition is aimed not only at infringement of the interests of competitors, but also on the state and always involves violation of legislation and morality. Unfair competition requires control by the state, as it serves as a source of shadowing of markets, which can negatively affect the economy of the country as a whole.

Competitive Environment of the Russian Railway Wagon Refurbishment Market

Railway transport plays a key role in the functioning and sustainable development of the Russian economy, providing transportation of passengers and cargo throughout the country. Modern Russia inherited the railway transport industry in the form of a post-Soviet monopoly, which itself provided transportation services, as well as by its own efforts ensured the maintenance of rolling stock in working condition, carrying out all types of wagon refurbishments. This study is devoted to the formation of an independent industry of wagon refurbishment services, as well as to the analysis of the way passed so far in building a competitive environment and further prospects for the development of the industry under study. In order to analyze the evolutionary path, the authors relied on the historical and genetic method, and the study of the current state of the wagon refurbishment services industry is based on the application of qualitative and quantitative methods, including the FAS RF market assessment methodology, the study of industries and markets combined in the approach of new institutional economics. The obtained research results allowed the authors to identify 5 stages of the evolution of this industry, characterize each of them in detail, identify features and evaluate the results obtained. Assessing the competitive environment of wagon refurbishment services formed to date, its subjects were described, the economic content of wagon refurbishment service and its types, currently used, institutions that act as a basis for coordination of the agents of the studied market were characterized in detail. According to the results of the study, the current competitive environment of the wagon refurbishment services market was assessed, including indicators of market power and concentration, and the directions and prospects for further development of the competitive environment of the domestic market of wagon refurbishment services were formulated. The theoretical significance of this study lies in the detailed description of the competitive environment of the wagon refurbishment services market, as well as the elements of its structure. The practical significance of this study lies in identifying the weaknesses of the industry and developing directions and recommendations to improve the efficiency of its functioning. Read more...
